2024 NFL Mock Draft (2.0) with Trades

by James Fedewa 4/11/2024 (@JamFed)

**The First-Forty Picks**

This “Notso”-Mock has SIX projected trades. I hope you enjoy it, as it’s a bit different. Please comment below…

TeamPlayerNotes
1) Chicago Bears (from Carolina)Caleb Williams, QB, USCCaleb Williams is a fantastic QB prospect and Chicago starts a new tenure with another first round rookie QB.  Personally, I am not sure if he’s a “true #1 overall” type of prospect, but he is for this years draft.  He’s currently setup for success with all of Chicago’s new offensive additions, so Chicago could be really good for a while (with all their new offensive weapons).
2) Washington CommandersDrake Maye, QB, North CarolinaDrake Maye is my #2 rated QB in this draft, but not by much. His mock-stock has been falling, but I think he has all the tools you would like to see a QB have.  He should flourish as a young NFL quarterback in DC, but I think he should wait and sit his rookie season before he actually plays (but I am sure he will get thrusted into NFL starting action sooner than later).
3) New England PatriotsJayden Daniels,  QB, LSUThe Patriots need a QB more than any team in the NFL.  Daniels is a totally different type of QB New England has ever seen. Many New England fans might prefer a WR here, but a franchise without a quarterback is not exactly a “franchise.” (Quarterback is their number one prioritydo it for Bob Kraft…)
4) Arizona CardinalsMarvin Harrison,  WR, Ohio StAZ needs to stop being cute and stop trying to win trades.  They stick and pick here with their top guy, who is the true #1 prospect in this draft. “Little-One” and MHJ will be a dynamic duo.
5) Minnesota VikingsJJ McCarthy,  QB, MichiganTRADE: MIN 1.11 & 1.23 for LAC 1.5 – Minnesota drafts their Cousins replacement. I just hope he can wait a season on the bench and sits this whole season.
6) New York GiantsMalik Nabers,  WR, LSUNabers is a top three talent in this draft and it is hard to believe that the Chargers passed on him. He’s could be a fantastic replacement for Keenan Allen, but NYG gets a good WR1 (lets just hope Nabers stays out of trouble in Gotham)
7) Tennessee TitansJoe Alt,  OL, Notre DameJoe Alt has great game tape and fantastic size, but his NFL Combine had too many mixed variables. He’s big and strong, with good speed (for a mountain of a man), but he fell down several times in footwork drills, so he slides a bit.  I can see the Chargers drafting Alt @ #5, but he would have to change positions to RT for the Chargers).
8) Las Vegas Raiders (trade)Rome Odunze,  WR, WashingtonTRADE: LAS trades 1.13, 3.13 for ATL 1.8 – Las Vegas loves Odunze (his home town) and trading up to #8 would not cost too much. The Raiders will have to jump in front of Chicago to make this happen
Paired wit Devonta Adams, GM Tom Telesco loves to have two alpha WR’s. This move could turn Gardern Minchew into a super star. Or, the Raiders could trade back into the first round and possibly draft Michael Penix Jr. a little later in the first round (paring up two Huskies for the next 5 years). If any team could get Penix and Odunze on the same team, look out!
9) Chicago BearsDallas Turner, ER, AlabamaChicago could trade down here, but Turner has too much upside. One of the two CHI first round picks needs to be a pass rusher.
10) New York JetsOlu Fashanu, OL, Penn StI think the Jets are in “WIN NOW” mode, and are not focusing on the future, so they could be targeting offensive weapons (like Brock Bowers or Brian Thomas). However, Fashanu probably the better pick, considering the advanced age and injury history of their current two OT’s. Fashanu was OT1 a few months ago, because of his quick feet, still is in many eyes.
11) Los Angeles Chargers (trade)Brock Bowers, TE, GeorgiaTRADE: MIN 1.11 & 1.23 for LAC 1.5 – Many folks do not believe the Chargers new GM and coach will draft a pass catcher in the first round, and focus more on the line of scrimmage. But after losing four starting “pass catchers” this offseason, there is a massive hole for the offense. Plus Bowers is a bit different: He can block, line up in the slot, play tight end, H-Back and can even rush the ball. He’s the Derwin James of offense. When you run a solid “13 Personnel” line up, the Chargers only need one starting WR.
12) Arizona Cardinals (trade)Jared Verse, ER, Florida StTRADE: ARI 1.27 &  2.3 for DEN 1.12 – The Cards need some pass rush talent and Verse is one of the better pass rushers in this class. If the they want Verse, they better get in front of Atlanta
13) Atlanta Falcons (trade)JerZhan Newton, DL, IllinoisTRADE: LAS trades 1.13, 3.13 for ATL 1.8 – The Falcons need pass rushers, inside and out. Fantastic trade down and get one of the best defensive players in this draft.
14) New Orleans SaintsTroy Fautanu, OL, WashingtonThe Saints have question marks all over their O-line, and Fautanu can fill any spot you ask. I would keep him at LT and move Penning over to RG. If RT Ryan Ramczyk retires, then move Penning to RT.
15) Indianapolis ColtsQuinyon Mitchell, CB, Toledo I bet the Colts will get a lot of trade offers for this pick, but Michell is so good, they’ll stick and pick.
16) Philadelphia Eagles (trade)Terrion Arnold, CB, AlabamaTRADE: PHI 1.22 & 2.21. for SEA 1.16 & 4.2 – Eagles wanted Q.Mitchell, but will have to get in front of the Jags for Arnold.
17) Jacksonville JaguarsBrian Thomas, WR, LSUIf Mitchell or Arnold are available at this spot, then they go CB. DeJean could be a good pick here, but I like Brian Thomas a little better than DeJean for Jax.
18) Cincinnati BengalsTaliese Fuaga, OL, Oregon StMany folks view Fuaga as a guard, and he could be a really good one, but start him at guard in year one, and you can shift him over to RT the next season.
19)  Los Angeles RamsLaiatu Latu, ER, UCLARams could go DT or CB here, but Latu looks like a very good polished pass rusher. His medicals (neck injury) forced him out of UW, but he’s been Steller for the last two years for UCLA.
20) Pittsburgh SteelersCooper DeJean, CB, IowaSteelers never draft OL or WR in the first round, so I plugged them with a fantastic DB in DeJean.
21) Miami DolphinsByron Murphy, DL, Texas Lose a DT, gain a DT.
22) Seattle Seahawks (trade)Michael Penix,  QB, WashingtonTRADE: PHI 1.22 & 2.21. for SEA 1.16 & 4.2 – Seattle trades down and drafts Penix. Many folks have Seattle drafting D-Line or RT, but honsetly, their D-Line looks very good (on paper) and RT Abe Lucas should bounce back well after his last knee surgery. They can get a good OG later.
23) Los Angeles ChargersJC Latham, OL, AlabamaTRADE: MIN 1.11 & 1.23 for  LAC 1.5 – I do not think the Chargers O-line is that bad. In fact, their O-line is already loaded with tackles and they only have ONE true OG on the roster. If Harbaugh wants to RUN the ball more, they need two road grader guards, not four left tackles. After the trade down, RT Latham falls into their laps.
24) Dallas CowboysAmarius Mims, OL, GeorgiaMims must looks like a Cowboy o-lineman.
25) Kansas City Chiefs (trade)Nate Wiggins, CB, ClemsonTRADE: GB 1.25 for KC 1.32 & 3.31 – KC lost two quality CB’s over the last three season (C. Ward and L. Sneed). Wiggins could develop into something special.
26) Tampa Bay BuccaneersTyler Guyton, OL, Oklahoma O-LIne, Edge or CB. I think Baker Mayfield would like the protection…
27) Denver Broncos (trade)Bo Nix, QB, OregonTRADE: ARI 1.27 &  2.3 for DEN 1.12 – Trade down, gain more draft capital and still get your starting QB. Win / Win. I love Bo Nix and Denver found a keeper. I also think Penix would be a great fit for Sean Payton, as both do not “create” or adlib too much. Both QB’s follow the script and game plan bigtime.
28) Buffalo BillsAdonai Mitchell, WR, TexasThe Bills could add a CB or OT here, but Mitchell is a fantastic weapon for Josh Allen.
29) Detroit LionsKool Aid McKinstry, CB, Alabama Knee Cap biter? Hmmm… maybe. Did you know that Koolaid number one cornerback prospect in the nation, coming into collage (five-star recruit)
30) Baltimore RavensDarius Robinson, DL, MissouriRavens can keep Robinson on the edge or line him up inside as a pass rusher. He would compliment their current D-line very well.
31) San Francisco 49ersJordan Morgan, OT, Arizona The only thing I think about with the 49ers is improving the right side of the O-line.
32.) Green Bay Packers (trade)Graham Barton, OL,  DukeTRADE: GB 1.25 for KC 1.32 & 3.31 – Barton can play several O-line positions (and GB knows how to develop and use those guys very well).
ROUND TWO
33) Carolina Panthers
ROUND TWO
Ladd McConkey, WR, Georgia
Finding any offensive weapons for Carolina is a must. I expect the Panthers do draft two WR’s in this draft

34) New England Patriots

Xavier Worthy, WR, Texas
Jayden Daniels and the fastest WR in the draft: Ummm…YES!
35) Denver Broncos (trade)Chop Robinson, ER, Penn StTRADE: ARI 1.27 &  2.3 for DEN 1.12 – Broncos need help everywhere. Chop does need to improve is pass rush moves, but he can develop into a quality pass rusher.
36) Washington CommandersKamari Lassiter, CB, Georgia Not the fastest DB, but he’s a damn good DB.
37) Los Angeles ChargersJackson Powers-Johnson, OL, OregonTwo Offensive Lineman with their first 3 picks? Nah, it’ll never happen. DT and CB are much more needed here. JPJ does slide a bit (possible medical red-flag???). After losing Corey Lindsley, center is a need too. I think this one is just for Justin Herbert – both Oregon Ducks.
38) Tennessee TitansChris Braswell, ER, Alabama Edge is a need… and now their team looks very good (on paper).
39) Carolina Panthers (from N.Y. Giants)Ennis Rakestraw Jr., CB, Missourione of the last quality CB’s here, could be a first round talent.
40) Washington Commanders (from Chicago)Xavier Legette, WR, South CarolinaA different type of WR that DC lacks.

  2. I’m very happy with the Bears right now. We ALL are. I was at a bar on Thursday night and it was completely packed with Bears fans that were all chanting “ROME! ROME! ROME!” before the #9 pick was announced. It was a really fun night. What do you know about Odunze?

    Thanks for the comments!
